A House Of Prayer
New Hope Chapel was started as a Prayer Chapel. We tap into the spiritual movements that have washed across this country for hundreds of years. There have been revivals, awakenings, prayer movements, Sunday Schools started on porches of cabins, camp meetings and houses of worship rising out of the mighty moves of God.
New Hope Chapel is a response to a spiritual awakening that moved through this area eighteen to twenty years ago. There was a prayer revival that unified many of the churches in town. We have had as many as thirty-five different pastors at one meeting. People came from Huntsville to Nashville to gather under a tent and have revival meetings.
We had prayer meetings around a fire. Foundation rocks from local buildings became our benches. The heavens were our roof. There was a Cumberland Presbyterian church on New Hope Road that was started in the early 1830s. It was finally abandoned and burned. We built this chapel to have a place to pray and have some shelter along with lights and water.
